Rayna Ray, Creator/Executive Producer

Rayna Ray is a prolific Producer and Creative Director. Actor turned Producer of TV/Film and Commercials, Rayna has been in the business for over a decade. From LA Roller Kids, for which she received multiple accommodations from the City of Los Angeles, to her current project, Kids on the Porch, which she took from the web to the network, Rayna specializes in everything from children’s programming to reality television, and her Original Concepts are being sought after by numerous production companies and Hollywood insiders . She has also produced some of Hollywood’s biggest, LIVE, high profile events such as: The Wonderful World of Women in Film Fair, Crystal Awards, and The Networking Award Show. Rayna has worked extensively among the diverse and prominent who’s who of the entertainment business and major studios alike. Rayna hosted and produced her own talk show “Ray in LA” for over 5 years for Time Warner Studio, and has cast on several major films and TV shows including: The Grinch, Zach and Cody, The Parkers, Hannah Montanna, Drake and Josh, Torque, and American Idol. She is currently in pre-production on a multi-million dollar franchise of reality shows as well as the children’s line-up for an Original Television network that will be launching in June.

Ashton A. Cooper, Jr., Esq. Legal Consulting Producer

Attorney, Ashton A. Cooper, Jr., Legal Consulting Producer, brings over twenty-four years of legal experience to Kids on the Porch. Ashton is the father of sisters Christina Cooper and Jennifer Cooper, two beautiful up and coming actresses whom are members of the cast. Ashton received his undergraduate degree from University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), where he received a Bachelor’s degree. He also has a Law Degree from the University of Santa Clara and is currently working as a Supervising Attorney for legal services organization. He has also served as Judge Pro Tem for the Superior Court of California, Los Angeles County. As a youth, Ashton has done some modeling, minor roles in front of the camera, and has worked on music contracts for individuals in the music industry.  He is excited about the Kids on the Porch project.



James Blake Beene, Writer/Producer

Born and raised in San Antonio, Texas, James quickly discovered the arts. In 2006, after thirteen years of writing and performing the stage, he received a Bachelor of Arts from the University of the Incarnate Word. He majored in Theatre and minored in All-Level Theatre Education. At the same time, he had completed starring roles in two independent films, “Crazy Thing Called Love” and “Compose.” James moved to Los Angeles in 2006 to pursue his passion for film and television. He currently has two projects circling the film festivals. James says that working with “Kids on the Porch” has been a tremendous joy and has allowed him to live out his dream of being an actor/writer/producer extraordinaire.

Marilyn Harris Smith, Writer

Marilyn Harris Smith was born to write. Since childhood she has written poetry and short stories. In middle school and high school, Marilyn took creative writing classes and pursued her love of writing while attending college. Marilyn grew up as the middle child in a family with five children. To escape the dynamics of a large family, she would bury herself in a book. She also watched what we call classic movies. Being such a lover of reading and movies helped prepare Marilyn to become a writer. Now, Marilyn is being blessed with the opportunity of television and screenplay writer. Having seven grandchildren makes writing for and about children fun and exciting. It is an adventurous new path.


Carolyn Connolly, Production Assistant

Carolyn Connolly grew up in New York and spent 10 years working as an electrical engineer in Maine.  A combination of divorce and company layoffs prompted her to pack up her car and drive to California. Anything that didn’t fit got sold, gifted, or tossed away.  Now she plays roller derby in Los Angeles and dabbles in performance art.  She’s worked as a theatre electrician, stage manager, production assistant, post production media manager, and she acts and roller skates for television and film when such opportunities present.  Currently working as a personal assistant to pay the bills.
